The Kanga Free Crochet Pattern

I continue to introduce my creation.

The last time it was Winnie the Pooh.

Today i will share my pattern for Kanga.

This toy made of cotton yarn (you can use acrylic too). It has 2 frames (skeletons) inside made of aluminium wire. The first frame passes from the head to the tail. The second one joins both legs.

The frames allow Kangaroo to sit leaning on the tail.

continue crocheting, make 2-3 increases in each  round, try it on the body. Make the last round with white yarn, leave a long tail for sewing

Dark brown tail

You can crochet only the light brown tail and embroider a dark brown strip over.

Pouch (pocket)

with orange yarn

10 ch,

1. 9 sc, ch, turn (each row finish with [ch, turn])

4 - 13: 11 sc

change yarn color to white

14. 11 sc

make [sc, ch] in each stitch (top and bottom) or row (both sides)

Nose and a dark strip on the head

with dark brown yarn

Leave a long tail for sewing

Ear, 2 pieces

with light brown yarn

Flatten, join with 3 sc the opposite stitches, sl st.

Cut off the thread, leave a long tail for sewing

Assembling the toy

1. Make the body frame: its length = the length of the head*1.5 + the length of the body + the length of the tail + 1.5 cm for tail bending + 4 cm for ring at the leg area + 2 cm (reserve)
2. Mark on the body points for attaching the legs, try the body frame on the tail and the body, bend the ring at the leg area (see the photo)
3. Insert the body frame inside the body through the neck putting  the tail end out (use the hole of magic ring), make the tail bending = 1.5 cm.
4. Stuff the Tail with filler and sew it to the body (putting it over the tail part of the body frame)
5. Stuff well the bottom part of the body and measure its diameter
6. Make the leg frame: its length = the length of the foot*2 + the length of the leg*2 + the body diameter + 5 cm for foot bending
7. Bend the leg frame in the form of П, where width of the central part = the body diameter.
8. Put some part of the filler out, poke one end of the leg frame through the body (in the points of attaching the legs, see the photo), at the same time pass the leg frame through the ring of the body frame
9. Stuff  the body again, try the body frame on the head, make the head bending
10. Stuff the top part of the legs, insert the ends of the leg frame inside the Legs (2 rows below the magic ring). Stuff a little  the bottom part of the legs.
11. Try the leg frame on the feet, make the foot bending. Put the stuffed feet over the leg frame and sew them to the Legs. You can also sew (with a few stitches into one point) the legs to the body at the upper point.
12. Sew the arms and the pouch to the body.
13. Attach the eyes, the crocheted nose with the dark strip and ears to the head.
14. Make and sew a white collar
